Goals and Objectives:

The main objective of this discipline (Road andRailwayEngineering) istotrain professionalMasters ofTransportationEngineering for engineering practicalskills,involving the areassuch as the planning, survey, design, construction, maintenance andmanagementof urban roads, highways, bridges and tunnels.

Discipline Profiles:

At present, thedisciplinehas opened up some research fields which arecharacterized by theclose combination ofthe practical engineering, mainlyincludingsubgrade pavement damage analysis and life evaluation, durability research and strengthening techniqueofcoastal engineering structures,thedesign theoryofbridge structures, health monitoring andresearches onearthquake-proofing technique, researchesand application of geotechnical engineering problemin coastal areas,the analysis and application of structurenumber and simulation methods, etc..Oriented to engineering,this disciplineis characterized by its strong applicationandiscloselycombinedwithengineering. The status of the teachingteam is the same as that of theRoad andRailwayEngineering. Manyteachers of the discipline, with high reputation in the industry,serve asthe experts,advisersand directorsin constructioncompanies, design institutesand industrialassociations.There areRoad and Bridge Inspection Center of Ministryof Transportandakey laboratory of Highway Engineering in Liaoning province. Thedisciplineis abundant in research achievementsin recent years, includingscientific research projectsatnational and provincial levels, academic papers, invention patentsapplicationandscience andtechnology awardsat provincial and ministerial levels. Besides, this discipline attaches great importance to the application of basic researches andcombines basic theorieswith engineering practicesto solve practical problems in engineering application.Italsotakes on manyprovincialand municipalprojectsincluding bridge testing, pile foundation inspection, durabilityanalysis and simulationanalysis andsubwaytunnelmonitoring,etc., contributing considerablyto the development of national transportationengineering.
