Goals and Objectives:

This program aims at developing professionals who master a solid basic theory and professional knowledge for civil engineering to meet the demands of scientific progress and social development. Candidates analyze the current situation, development fieldsand developmenttrend of the disciplineboth at home and abroad, have the ability to conductscientific research and independently undertake special technical work as well as solve relevant problems related to the civil engineering industryon their own.

Discipline Profiles:

The discipline of civil engineering in Dalian Maritime University (DMU) is the main discipline enrolling master candidates.Based on the traditionaladvantages of the Dalian Maritime University and the major demand of the transportation development, the discipline has conducted in-depth researches in the areasof technological innovation,promotion and applicationof bridge and tunnel engineering, engineering design andconstruction, project research and reconstruction, project planning and management. These academic activities are mainly involved in structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, bridge and tunnel engineering, disaster prevention and reduction engineering and protective engineering as well as municipal engineering. Throughseveral years’development, thedisciplinehas been successfully established and faculty team hasbeen completely formed. AllteachersownPhD degrees and most teachers have more than one-year experience of being visiting scholars abroad for further study and majority ofteachers areMaster supervisors. Some teachers havebeen awarded the title of “Millions of Talent Project” of Liaoning Province.Many teachers serve as experts, consultants, directorsof construction enterprises, designcompanies and industrialassociations, exerting agreatinfluence and reputationwithin the industry.In terms of disciplinedevelopment, this discipline focuses on academic exchanges and engineering practice at home and abroad. The professors from world-renowned universities are employed as adjunct professors.This discipline has structural, geotechnical, material and mechanical laboratories. In recent years, a totalscores of scientific research projects have been funded by the nation and Liaoning province.Hundreds of high-level academic papers and several monographs have been published.Besides,more thanten research and development patents have been approved anda number of projects have won provincial and ministerial level awards. In addition, some scientific research achievements have been successfully transformedto productivity,makinggreat contributions to the development of civil engineering in China.
