Discipline Profiles:
Transportation planning and management is one of thekeydisciplines of Dalian Maritime University whichwas includedin China’s 211 Project (a plan to build one hundred national-level universities in China) and Double-First Class University Project (a plan to build a number of world-class universities and first-class disciplines by the end of 2050). This discipline was originally established in 1953 and was authorized to grant Master Degree in Engineeringin 1984. At present,there are5 areasacrossthe disciplines, includingtransportation development strategy and tactics, transportation planning and management technology,theplanning and designoftransportation systemandtransportation modernization management.Currently, there are 9 professors, 15 associate professors, 9Doctoral supervisors and 18 master supervisors, whohave considerable professional experience of teaching and a valuable academic wealth of training. Theteaching and scientific research are closely combined across the disciplines. In recent years, many projects have been funded, including 1key project ofNational Social Science Fund,1 key project of National Natural Science Fund, 2 major projects of Humanities and Social Sciencesof theMinistryof Education,more than 20 projects of National Natural Science Fund,over10 projects ofNational Social Science Fund, more than 20 projects ofHumanities and Social Science Fund oftheMinistryofEducationand provincialoneslike projects of Liaoning Province Natural Science Fundas well as over100 projects of enterprises andinstitutions.More than 1000 academic papers have been published,among which over500 papers have beenincluded inSCI and EI database. In recent years, more than 100 PhD degreesand 50masterdegrees have been conferred on. Each year, more than 50 PhD candidates and postgraduates are recruited. At the same time,more than 10 international postgraduates are recruitedeachyearto enhanceinternational cooperation and exchange. The faculty has provided a large number of high-level, professional andinter-disciplinarytalents forthetransportation industryboth at home and abroad.
