Goals and objectives:
The major aims to cultivate advanced technical talents to fulfill the demand of the socialistic modernization in 21st century and to achieve general development in all
aspects of moral, intellectual and physical education.
The graduates should:
1) grasp the basic theory and special knowledge of Civil Transportation Engineering;
2) have the solid foundation of the BIM modeling, design, construction and project management of structures such as road, bridge, tunnel, etc. and have the required skill;
3) boost both the ability of innovation and practices.
Discipline profiles:
This major is the basicto the development of national economy. After years of development,we havea professional team with rich experiences both in education and scientific research. The current faculty group consists of 17 teachers, including 6 professors, 4 associate professors, 6 Ph.D. supervisors. 6 teachers have oversea education or research background. 2 teachers have been selected by the “Hundred, Thousand and Ten Thousand Talent Project” of Liaoning Province.
Themajorisqualified for master, PhD and Post-doc programs.2 Master degree:the civil engineering and the traffic and transportation engineering;and 1 PhD program:the road and railway engineering. The road and railway engineering has been selected as the key discipline of Liaoning Province. The graduate program recruitsabout 40 master and PhD students each year. Based on the major demand of the development of the national traffic and transportation industry and the traditional advantages of DMU, the following aspects are emphasized:
1) design, construction and safety evaluation of the offshore traffic infrastructures;
2) R&D and application of novel ocean traffic infrastructure materials;
3) life-circle design and key BIM techniques of the ocean traffic infrastructures. Accordingly, the graduates are very competitive and popular in the job market.
Themajorownsa state Road & Bridge detection center and a key laboratory of Liaoning Province. Besides the regular geotechnical experimental and teaching instrument, the lab has been equipped with a wireless bridge test system, a tri-axial rock creep apparatus, abending beam rheometer, adynamic shear rheometer,muti-channelFBG demodulator, a dynamic signal acquisition system, etc. All these devices have fulfilled the learning and training requirement of the students. In addition to the in-classroom learning, thismajorhas contracts with a number of national construction enterprises and R&D institutesso thatthe students can combine the theoretical study and the practical engineering through the on-site learning.
Themajoralso emphasizes on the international communication and cooperation. A joint education program has been established with the University of Houston. Qualified students can apply for “3+1+1” program and the “1+1+1” program.
